Hey everyone! There’s been lots of heavy talk this last week, so I figured I would put up something that’s a bit lighter (but still awesome!) today. I present to you: Nardwuar the Human Serviette.
Yes, Nardwuar. Yes, Human Serviette. You might have seen his TedX Vancouver talk. (Note to self: do an entry on Ted Talks).
I found out about Nardwuar at the beginning of the year – he’s a music journalist who digs DEEP to find about little-known facts about his interviewees. I’ve watched a number of Nardwuar interviews and I never get tired of the moment when an interviewee is just stunned by some factoid or some hidden truth that ‘Wuar has unearthed. It could be a VHS tape, a Mork from Ork doll, or his trademark: simple vinyl records.
Nardwuar is a hell of a journalist, and you owe it to yourself to watch a few videos and see him utterly strip the veneer off of people with his quirky charm. Even hardheads like Henry Rollins eventually come around to Nardwuar’s awesome skills.
Take some time, and go learn about your favorite musicians – there are lots of interviews being posted from Nardwuar’s time at South by Southwest. Hell, do it even though when I asked to interview Nardwuar, I got the politest “no” that I’ve ever received.
Someday, Nardwuar. Someday.
